CHERRY BLOSSOM BREEZE

MOTION | ENGAGEMENT

Album88’s Cherry Blossom Breeze Promotion

Cherry Blossom Breeze is a show from GSU’s Album88 radio station. It is home for Japanese and Korean music! I was given a lot of creative freedom to recreate the thumbnail and banner for the Album88 website Cherry Blossom Breeze HomePage. Because of the name of the show itself, I went for a cherry blossom scene and included pink gradients with blossoms breezing by in the animation. I took inspiration from professional photography in Japan of vintage trains with cherry blossoms blooming in the background. For the music, the show plays a lot of indie Japanese artists so I chose one of my favorite J-Indie bands, Lamp for the background music to match the calm relaxing scene. The animation is uploaded on the website https://www.wrasfm.org/cherryblossombreeze!

STORYBOARDING

The idea behind the storyboard was to create rough sketch ideas and imagining how it will play out when animated in motion, step by step.

I wanted the thumbnail animation to start off with the cherry blossom flowers fully filling the screen then slowly uncovering to reveal and take the viewer into the scene of the train passing through.

After the train passes, it takes the viewer up into the sky by following the sun and later the moon, ending with the stars and the title for the radio station then loops in the end.

For the banner I wanted a short loopable clip and visioned the phases of the sun rising to the the sun setting, which is a parallel to the thumbnail animation. I wanted it to be more of a still shot so I had minimal movement in the tree branches swaying but had the colors and moon switch on and off as the moon goes up and down, then repeats to loop.
